Pupils have received a bumper bundle of brand new books from the supermarket Morrisons.

The school received the books as part of an initiative between the Morrisons Foundation and the National Literacy Trust, aiming to help children from local communities fall in love with reading by increasing the choice of books available.

Further books were also donated for the school library by John Wilson, a Morrisons employee, who along with other workers from the supermarket’s Gain Lane headquarters volunteers at the school’s Breakfast Club. The school received £100 worth of books to support both the school library and full class sets of titles such as The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.

Mr Wilson said:

“We were delighted to provide new books for Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy’s library and classrooms. There’s a great selection of books and we hope it helps the children to fall in love with reading.”

Principal Clare Daddy said:

“The children were thrilled to receive so many new books to read. The school would like to thank Morrisons for its kind donation of books.”
